The legendary reggae group The Cimarons surprises us with their new work, "Harder Than The Rock," an album that promises to be a delight for fans of the genre. Released on May 30, 2025, this album showcases the band's talent and musical evolution, which continues to maintain its essence while exploring new sonic nuances.
The album is divided into two sections, each with five and six tracks, respectively, that take us on a journey filled with profound messages and immersive rhythms.
The first section features songs like "Ship Took Us Away," a reflection on travel and roots, and "Oh Jah", an energetic spiritual tribute. "Give Love" and "Morning Sun" invite us to radiate love and hope, while "Eternal Peace," the only song not written by the band, closes this section with a message of universal harmony.
The second half of the album begins with the title track, "Harder Than The Rock," a declaration of strength and resilience. Songs like "Mother Earth" and "Green, Gold & Red" highlight the band's commitment to nature and Rastafarian values. "The Fool Said" and "I Will Follow You" provide an introspective and personal perspective, while "Reggae Rhapsody" closes the album with an explosion of musical creativity.
The Cimarons lineup on this project includes Franklyn Dunn on bass, Locksley Gichie on guitars and backing vocals, Michael Arkk on lead vocals, Marley Drummond on drums, and Noa Souto RodrÃguez contributing his mastery on keyboards, organ, and strings. Additionally, Makeda Moore embellishes the backing vocals, while Roberto Sánchez not only contributes guitar and keyboards but also handles production, recording, mixing, and mastering at A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio in Spain. The brass arrangements are another highlight of the album, featuring Gorka Fernández on trumpet, Viti Sánchez on tenor saxophone, Lucho López on alto sax and flute, and Aratz Diez on trombone. These elements contribute a sonic richness that brings each track to life.
The album's production is impeccable, thanks to the talent of Roberto Sánchez, who has captured the essence of The Cimarons while adding his personal touch. The visual design also deserves special mention: the photography by Mark Warmington, Piotr Tabencki (RASTAtrooper), and Bartek Muracki perfectly complements the album's aesthetic, while the artwork by Ark & Ites rounds out a visually appealing product. The album is distributed by ARK Distribution and managed by Michal Lawniczak of Offside Agency. Those interested in purchasing it or learning more can contact distri@loneark.com.
"Harder Than The Rock" is much more than an album; it's a work that reflects The Cimarons' passion and commitment to their music and ideals. With this work, the band demonstrates that it remains a fundamental pillar of reggae worldwide. Without a doubt, this album will be a must-have for fans of the genre and a gem for those seeking music with soul and a message. Don't miss it!
